El Salvador - Getting there info

I left the bank in Leon at 8:30 am. I arrived in La Union, El Salvador at 5:30 pm. Total bus and exit /entrance fees are:

Leon taxi to bus station. $10 Cordobas
Bus to Chinadega, Nicaragua. $12 Cordobas

Express bus to Guasaule, Honduras (but before Customs-yeah weird). $30 Cordobas
* When you reach Guasaule, you will be HOUNDED by about 10 taxistas trying to convince you to take their buggy to the border. They will tell you $5 C 's for the 2kms it takes to get to the border. Then they will say $3 C's for the 5 kms it takes to get to the border. When you start walking away, they will say $2 C's for the 10kms it takes to get to the border. When you reach the main road after walking for about 2 mins, you will see the border about 500 metres away. So, basically take 2 mins to catch your breath afater the long bus ride and walk to the border, which is about 10 mins away. Plus you can stop on the bridge and take pretty pictures. Or you could opt for the ride to get rid ofg your last cordobas.

Exit fee for Nicaragua. $2 USD
Entrance fee for Honduras. $3 USD
Express van (only option) to border town of El Amatillo. $5 USD
Exit fee for Honduras. $0 (nada)
Entrance fee for El Salvador. $10 USD (ouch! but you do get an official receipt/sticker stuck to your passport.)

Bus to San Carlos (town about 20 mins away to switch buses) $0.75 USD - although I think the guy charged me too much. I think he thought I was going somewhere else.

Bus to La Union (port town southwest El Sal.) $0.85 USD - this bus took about an hour to get there. Plus this town was a waste of my time as I needed to go to the capital to get the bus to the beach I wanted anyways.

I'm staying at Casa de Huespedes El Dorado as listed in the green bible for $8 USD. It's more rundown than I thought and I'm iffy about actually sleeping in the bed. But it is only one night...

I'm having a cafe con leche (coffee with milk) and it sucks. So far the best coffee I've had has been in Argentina and Colombia.
