So, it has been many months since I've been here in Buenos Aires and things still make me chuckle....
On a bus... I'm taking a pimped-out bus home from work one day. The front of the bus was adorned with etched mirrors that have purple lighting under them. There's also purple lighting under the driver's seat, as you would see in those sup'ed up cars on TV or in Richmond. I'm thinking, this driver's making money elsewhere. Meanwhile, good ol' yankee country music is playing thru a raspy bass box. I'm thinking, ok, the radio, but no. After about 30 minutes, the music is over and I see the driver remove the cassette from the duct-taped car stereo and flip it over for more country music....
In my house last night sounds of... PUTA! PUTA MADRE! MIERDA! FALTA FALTA FALTA! NEGRO! (not a derogatory slang, although it does reference those of African descent) CHINO! (not a derogatory slang, it means guys, as in what's up guys, in Colombia) ESTUPIDO! NOOOOOOO! GOOOOOOOOOOOAAAAAALLLLLLL! WOOOOWHOOOOOO! Marika, Marika! MARIKA!!! BOLUDO! BOLUDO! VAMOS VAMOS! There was a Colombia vs. Buenos Aires soccer (futbol) game. And all of my roomates are Colombian. I went upstairs and read more of my Tale of Two Cities.
Random people on the street... a blonde is walking down the street. She is wearing a fur coat that looks like whatever animal(s) it was ate her up and left her head and legs protruding out from either end. She is obviously wearing a short skirt as I do not see fabric below the fur, uh, no pun intended. She is clacking along in her 3 inch heels chatting to her friend. She's about 50 to 60 years old.
This is all I can remember right now... I'm sure there's lots more, but in my sick stupor, I can not think....
